Welcome to Songa Farms, a thriving agricultural enterprise dedicated to sustainable farming and rural development in Sheema District, Uganda. We specialize in beekeeping, cattle rearing, forestry, and crop cultivation, producing high-quality organic food while preserving the environment and promoting biodiversity. Our mission is to empower local communities, promote food security, and implement eco-friendly farming practices that ensure a healthier, more prosperous future for generations to come. With a deep commitment to innovation and sustainability, we strive to make a lasting impact in the agricultural sector.
Bee farming can be highly productive, even in a small space. For instance, with ¼ acre of land or a dedicated house for 50 hives, you can produce 1,500kg of honey annually (30kg per hive, with 3 harvest seasons per year). A serious bee farmer often mixes different hive types—modern hives for higher honey yield and traditional hives for more wax. Choosing in-house apiary systems offers numerous advantages: the honey produced is of superior quality, the harvesting and inspection process is easier, the bees are protected from predators, and the systems are space-efficient and durable, preventing damage from pests or disturbances during harvest time.
